DAV Auxiliary Unit 39 returns to Anoka County Courthouse filling the lobby with Holiday Crafts and Baked Goods Thursday, Dec. 12, from 7:30am to 1:00pm. Proceeds from the sale, as well as other fund-raising events throughout the year support Veterans now residing in nursing homes. MN DAV Anoka Chapter 39 and DAVA Unit 39 members deliver holiday gifts making the Christmas season a little brighter for our Veterans. Reminder our next MN DAV Chapter 39 meeting is a 6:30 PM on Thursday, Nov. 17th at the VFW, 1919 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Lots of volunteer opportunities at upcoming fundraising events will be reviewed as well as final plans for our holiday membership dinner.

The Official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, November 11 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs invites Veterans, families, elected officials and community members to celebrate and honor all Veterans who have served this country. A free community breakfast will be served from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. prior to the start of the program at 10 a.m. To help Minnesotans commemorate Veterans Day in their communities, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has also compiled a list of Veterans Day Events happening around Minnesota. Volunteers from MN DAV Chapter 39 came out to The Farmstead Assisted Living on a cold October afternoon to present special blankets to veterans. The blankets are printed with the following verse from Psalm 91: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty… He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

Steve Guider shared the status of Veterans Memorial Park of Blaine (Minnesota) at MN DAV Chapter 39’s October meeting. Steve shared, “The Mission of the Memorial Park is to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of our nation’s service members, veterans and their families. To honor their bravery, courage and sacrifice, and to educate about the cost of freedom so that time will not dim the glory of their deeds.” The Veterans Memorial Park of Blaine committee is a 501c3 organization with the mission to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of our nation’s service members, veterans and their families.
