Paul Michael “Marty” Kampa, age 72, passed away on March 10, 2023.  Marty had a passion for mentoring youth as an active member of the Boy Scouts of America as well as volunteering his time with the Disabled American Veterans, to include serving as MN DAV Chapter 39 commander for several years. MN DAV Chapter 39 & Unit 39 will meet this Thurs., April 13 9, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the VFW, 1919 Coon Rapids Blvd., Coon Rapids, MN 55433.  Nominations for MN DAV Chapter 39 officers will be held at the April meeting.  Any member in good standing can run for an officer position.  The 2023 MN DAV Chapter 39 Golf Tournament, held in July, is one of our major fund-raising events to support local veterans and families.  The Golf Committee could use your help in recruiting golf tournament foursome teams, identify tournament Sponsorships and help with fund-raising prizes.  Registration forms will be disseminated at the April meeting for members to reach out to potential sponsors and help recruit golf teams MN DAV Chapter 39 is conducting the first clothing drive on April 22 and 23 at the Cub Foods parking lot at Riverdale Mall (next to Walmart, just off Highway 10 and Round Lake Blvd.).  Volunteers are needed on both days.  Members are encouraged to use the sign-up sheet at the April meeting.   The Spring Convention is being held  at the Holiday Inn in Duluth (downtown) April 27-29.  The room rate is $119 plus tax.  Phone (218) 722-120 for reservation and ask for “DAV Block”. Membership drive continues with a lifetime membership at a discounted cost of $50.00.  There is nothing more important than your health and the health of your fellow members.  If you do not feel well, please do not attend the meeting.
